- A long-term technology partner
Rubycode is hiring a Customer Engineer for one of our long-term technology partners: an established software company behind a unified platform for log collection, storage and analysis. Their customers include Fortune 500 security teams and IT operations groups. They run the platform's agents across thousands of endpoints, often on-premises, in air-gapped and in highly regulated environments. A new SaaS platform is also gaining momentum.
You'll join a flat, expert team that has grown from a garage start-up into a scale-up. It combines the stability of an established company with the pace of a start-up.
Why this role is different
Most companies make you choose between Sales Engineer and Support Engineer, or between pre-sales and professional services. Here you do all of them. You run the first demo, help design the customer's deployment, and stay the person they trust afterwards. It's the variety a Solutions, Support, Professional Services or Customer Success Engineer would recognize, all in one role.
What you'll do
-
01
Before they buy
- Run technical product demos and deep-dive conversations with prospects, together with Sales.
- Understand how a customer really works and propose a solution that fits their environment.
-
02
When they deploy
- Help customers design their architecture, then deploy, configure and upgrade the product across on-premises, air-gapped and SaaS environments.
- Make sure implementations are delivered successfully and in line with the agreed scope.
- Build and deliver training and technical presentations.
-
03
Once they're running
- Own support cases end to end: reproduce, troubleshoot, and dig into logs, configs and network behavior.
- Escalate to Engineering with clear, reproducible findings, and keep the customer informed.
- Turn what you learn into knowledge base articles, documentation and training. Solve it once, write it down.
What you'll bring
- 2–3+ years in a technical, customer-facing role: support, pre-sales, consulting or IT operations.
- Hands-on experience with, or genuine interest in, log management and SIEM tools such as Splunk, ELK, Graylog, QRadar, Logstash, Kafka or syslog.
- Solid networking fundamentals (TCP, UDP, DNS, DHCP) and how to troubleshoot them.
- Working knowledge of SSL/TLS, X.509 certificates and PKI.
- Comfortable on Linux and on Windows.
- Excellent written and spoken English. Much of the work happens in writing.
- You use AI to speed up troubleshooting and writing, and you know when not to trust it.
Nice to have
- Scripting in Shell, Python, PowerShell or Perl.
- Experience with macOS, BSD, Solaris or AIX.
- A security background or certification (Security+, CISSP, CISA).
- A degree in IT or Computer Science. Equivalent experience counts just as much.
What you'll get
- Fully remote work with flexible hours, in a team of experts across time zones.
- Direct work with Fortune 500 security teams and a strong technical community.
- Hands-on experience across pre-sales, professional services and support.
- A flat structure where your ideas reach the people who can act on them.
